What a race!  Drivers were here from all over the West.  Lots of passing and really fast driving by everyone.  What an honor to place up front with these drivers!

Shasta 1/3 mile oval
Set the track record at 17.960
Entering last weekend’s event at SRP, Micah Parmer had the Legend championship clinched. That was the good news. The bad news was his dismal night on track during the main event, during which he dealt with mechanical issues. Twenty-four cars started the feature, with visitor Martin McKeefery starting on the pole. Frank Marks led the early portion of the race, but was passed on lap nine by Zachery Kavert. Those two would swap the lead a couple of times before Kavert finally took the lead for good and went on to win the race. Rounding out the top five were McKeefery, Steve Fensler, Jr., Marks, and Jason Schuppert. The main event was slowed by at least six caution flags, and though some drivers made their exit on the back of an Anderson Towing truck, all drivers were in good health.

Carson City
Martin McKeefery of Milpitas, Calif., celebrated his 18th birthday and helped his bid to win the INEX national semipro oval championship with a victory in the 15-car, 40-lap Legends feature race. McKeefery started 12th in the main event and worked through the field in a race that saw three caution flags and one red after a spectacular crash on the 16th lap that knocked Bobby Hodges out of the race.

"It was a great race," said McKeefery, who has two victories and one runner-up finish in four appearances at Champion this summer (he has posted fast time all four times). McKeefery, in the running for Legends national road and oval championships (see www.mckeeferyracing.com/),was looking forward to racing one more time at Champion on Sept. 24. However, Champion's scheduled show has been canceled, with the final show now set for Sept. 17. "We were going to come up here ...that was going to be a big deal for us because we need the points,"said James McKeefery, Martin's father. "Now we're scrambling to find another race somewhere."

Carson City 1/4 mile oval
Madjeski, of Incline Village, collected his first Legends main event victory in three seasons at Champion in a highly competitive Legends race that ran 30 laps without any cautions.

Some misfortune earlier in the day actually came back to help out as Madjeski led virtually from the start of the Legends 30-lapper.

"Earlier, I had a plug bust so I didn't run well in qualifying, which put me up front (for the main event). That was an advantage, but it's still a win. I'll take it because I've had my misfortunes, too," Madjeski said.

At the end, he held off young stars Martin McKeefery and Micah Parmer to take the checker flag. McKeefery, 17, of Milpitas, Calif., won the Legends main event at Champion on July 30 while Parmer, 18, of Anderson, Calif., is the Legends points leader at Shasta Speedway and second-place finisher in the main event at Champion one week before.

"I knew they were coming," Madjeski said. "I slacked off for a while because I wanted to save my tires, but when I looked back and saw them, I knew I couldn't save anything anymore. I wasn't going to just give it to them."

Parmer moved into fourth-place on the 15th lap, with McKeefery and Denny Hadler in hot pursuit. Parmer moved into second on the 22nd lap and then made an inside move to try and pass into the lead on the 25th lap, only to see Madjeski close the door. McKeefery moved into second-place with two laps to go, but he was unable to make a serious bid for the lead.

Legends of the Pacific made their second appearance on the “Quick Quarter Mile” this evening. Martin McKeefery took the checkered flag for the win, which was not anything strange to him as he is a graduate of the Mini Cup Jr. Stars. McKeefery had quick time, won his heat and took it all the way to the Main Event.

Carson City 1/4 mile oval
The 17-year-old McKeefery made his second Carson City appearance of the season a good one as he won an exciting 17-car Legends main event that saw five different leaders over 30 laps. McKeefery, who blew a motor and settled for 11th in his June 4 race at Champion, took the lead with two laps to go after passing Bobby Hodges who then spun out and went to the pits.

McKeefery, who was coming off a win against a strong field the weekend before in Stockton, set a fast time of 14.55 in qualifying that is the best this season in the Legends division at Champion

The Legends of the Pacific again visited Stockton 99 Speedway Saturday night. Milpitas' Seventeen year old Martin McKeefery, #27, again took the checkered flag. Tracy's Jeremy Wood, #22 earned second place, San Lorenzo's Mark Bailey took third, Lodi's Donny Stone finished fourth and Stockton's Fred Clement rounded out the top five.

I hit the tire wall on the first lap of qualifying so I had to start in last place (25). I was lucky we could fix my car in time to race. I worked my way to finish 19 and 3rd in class.

Wow what a race. I raced between 6th and 2nd place all night. I was spun under yellow, on a restart lap, I drove up the back of another car which caused my steering box to go off and I had to work hard to keep it running. While attempting to pass into 2nd at the end of the race I spun into the infield and had to settle with a 9th place finish.

This was my first time at Thunderhill.  By the end of qualifying I was really getting the feel.  To qualify 2nd of 17 drivers was really a great result for me.  But without knowing how to drive in the rain and we had a down pour for the race, I didn't finish as well as I would have liked.  I need rain tires!

After achieving a substantial lead on the pack (about 1/4 mile ahead of the rest), a full course yellow flag gathered all the cars together. On the green flag restart, I maintained the lead but drove the car too deep into turn 2 and spun the car.  I got back into the race in 8th place, passed 2 cars in the last lap.

World of Outlaws winged sprint car ace, Randy "The Hurricane" Hannigan, mixed it up all day with some of Mud's best (and some of Mud's youngest) winning the main event under heavy pressure from the young Legends driver Martin McKeefery. McKeefery dogged the leader Hannigan most of the race until a failed passing attempt coming into the hairpin late in the race cost him a podium.
